Little researches and calculations have been done, but because of the hectic assignment week we were not able to work properly on the project. The time we have lost must be compensated in week 3.

Location visit

On Thursday Simone went to Amsterdam for her assignment. She also visited Entrepot-Dok, and made some useful pictures from the location.

The entrepotdock on the “kadijkseliland” has a long a special history. 84 monumental warehouses. Called the old-entrepotdock have been built between 1708 and 1829. They served as storage space. You could only reach the entrepotdock by water or by using the gate. The gate was built in 1830 and designed by Jan de Teef. The warehouses are approximately 5 meters wide and 15 meters high. The dept varies between 30 and 40 meters. In 1970 they had the idea to make living spaces out of the warehouses. Some of the remaining buildings were damaged by fire, but they were still strong enough to accommodate living area. They tried to use all the space available.
